THE GREAT ESCAPE: TURKEY DAY 7-14

Penginapan kali ini terletak extremely adjacent to the local scene including the infamous the great Blue Mosque and the historical Hagia Sophia. You can see these building even from our hotel window. We are so blessed. Alhamdulillah.

It is getting late and we decided to rest and get restored for tomorrow's agendas.

***

After done praying, we had our in-room breakfast served by the hotel's staff. The breakfast was lovely and simple. Enough to kick start our day. Soon after, we were walking towards the Grand Bazaar. Folks, you can get additional information on the Grand Bazaar via this link https://www.grandturkishbazaar.com.

Prior reaching the grand bazaar, we stopped by at the local mosque. Turkey's mosques all in all are beautifully made with extra fine crafting on the interior. you know the masterpiece that will leave your mouth gap in awe. We did. Ita too...to the extreme. Haha..

Morning trip to the Grand Bazaar. Awas!!

Rahsia awet muda..Kak Mah pepagi dah pekena freshly squeezed pomegranate juice.

Singgah dulu di Masjid NuruosManiye. Tiada bayaran dikenakan.

Dah nampak dari kejauhan entrance to the Grand Mosque

Visitor Information Board. Jangan ketinggalan ya?

Kak Mah & Ita, gaya macam mosque building restoration officer. Sekitar foto dalam masjid.

 Mamarazzi caught in action.

Kak Mah job sangat nih?!

 Dah-dah, jom ke Grand Bazaar.

Kak Mah dengan muka terpegun dengan keindahan masjid.

 Rehat dulu.

Kak Mah cam behave je. Rehat jugak la tu?!

Akhirnya kami tiba di pintu Grand Bazaar

Ita mana? Opkos dengan camera dia busy snapping photos. Grand bazaar ni sangat sibuk namun sangat menarik. The Grand Bazaar is around 15 minutes walk from the Aya Sofya/Blue Mosque area and also from our hotel. You can go Eminonu or Beyazit, and than walk 15 minutes. Also there is tram service for a small fraction of a price. TL 2.50 for a single trip. But we preferred by walking....Enjoy..

Grand Bazaar Opening Hours :

Weekdays from 08.30 – 19.00

Saturday from 08.30 – 19.00

Grand Bazaar Closed :

Sunday and religious holidays and bank holidays.

Ita please look at the camera?

 Tu pun Ita.

Hampur setengah hari jugak kami merayau sekitar Grand Bazaar. Ni pula jualan jagung rebus dan bakar ala Turkeye. Sangat menyelerakan dan sedap. walaupun batuk (Thanks Mira for the infection) tetapi jagung bakar is my favourite. Period!! Tips: The closer this small 3 wheels Corn Cart to the mosque the more expensive it will be...TL 3.50.

Rindu McDonalds...jadik terpaksa beli jugak walaupun harga agak mahal. McChicken is my fav. ..and owh...you the Lady with the great smile..no mayonnaise please.

 Saja-saja survey jaket kulit.

 Kak Mah and the Doves.

Untuk makluman folks, there are many ATMs around. Very convenient.

Street Girl. 'If you wanna use that line you better not start' attitude

 Kak Mah melawat students seliaan.

 Nak juga la..

 Jalan-jalan petang.

Morning walk to the nearby garden

Nampak tak tembok kat belakang tu? Ia adalah Valen Aqueduct. is a Roman aqueduct which was the major water-providing system of the Eastern Roman capital of Constantinople (modern Istanbul, Turkey). Completed by Roman Emperor Valens in the late 4th century AD, it was maintained and used by the Byzantines and later the Ottomans, and remains one of the most important landmarks of the city

Penat jugak nak jalan ke Valens Aqueduct. kak Mah cekal je.

Sekitar Valens Aqueduct. Ita tak join pagi ni sebab sakit perut. Get well Ita and eat healthy okay?

 Close Up

Dari kejauhan terlihat kelibat seorang wanita sedang memilih fresh fruits. Kamiagak terkejut kerana buah-buahan segar disini sama ada local produce or freshly imported from Spain and such, were sold at a very rock bottom price. Beli kak Mah, jangan tak beli. You got my moral support!!

Sarapan pagi dulu di pinggir jalan Istanbul. Memang dah macam orang tempatan dah. Hehe.

Keesokkan paginya kami melawat Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque dan Gulhane Park serta Museum of the History of Science & Technology in Islam.

Gulhane Park

Gülhane Park is a historical urban park in the Eminönü district of Istanbul, Turkey; it is located adjacent to and on the grounds of the Topkapı Palace. The south entrance of the park sports one of the larger gates of the palace.

Museum of the History of Science & Technology in Islam
Istanbul Museum of the History of Science and Technology in Islam (Turkish: İstanbul İslam Bilim ve Teknoloji Tarihi Müzesi) is located in the former Imperial Stables Building in Gülhane Park. The museum was opened on 25 May 2008 and displays replicas of 9th and 16th century scientific instruments of Muslim scholars.[1] The models were all made at Munich University from descriptions and drawings in contemporary texts - very few original items are present.

This photo exudes local culture, magnificent historical mosque, and the starting of a new day, the sadness and the hapiness, all in.... in foreign land. I'm in love!

 Speechless

The story told to me was very deep and it touched me deep. Folks, the park also offered a life size figure of the saint and yu can have a photo moment with it.

Soon after that Kak Mah and I decided to stroll along the shops just to window shopping. This is where we met Selcuk, an old chap from Nevsehir, Turkey that sells fine turkish arts. He then brought us to his shop in which located near Hagia Sophia.

Selcuk was very friendly and insisted to offer to buy us lunch. The next day, we went with him to his favourite restaurant and we had a blast. Thanks Selcuk for the lunch and the discounted items.

Though kinda big, but he walked fast towards the restaurant.

Cekap naw dia buat manisan turkey

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Alhamdulillah...it has been a while since my last posting....to my blog reader...kindly accept my apologies..things has been quite a roller coaster for me recently plus on the passing of both of my parents last year...again my apology..

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The rest of the days in Istanbul were fill with various 'we time' experiences. We managed to explore a lot of things but the best ones was that we managed to immerse ourselves in the local scene and cultures.

This is the local convenience store cum pharmacy

Also, I will always be in view that visiting a saloon or barber and get the haircut that I love the most is a therapy on its own..and for that reason...i visited the local barber. Oh yeah!!

This is the view from up above looking down from our hotel....

Haghia Sophia from a near distance...

Also we had the chance to shop for local produce. kak Mah was purchasing fruit jams in which it turned out to be very delicious. I just love the Turkish strawberry jam.....PERIOD!!

This is the shop where we got our fruit jams supply...very adjacent to the Spice Bazaar...also you can have a far away view on the Galata Tower from here and the Bosphorus Bridge is just a short walk away...

Boo Hoo on the Poo Poo...haha....Kak Mah's series of unfortunate events. This happened outside the Spice Bazaar....a small garden type of a resting place with wooden benches and all....there were a lot of pigeons and Kak Mah was like reminding me and Ita to be careful not to get poo poo over our head or shirt...and Voila....it was Kak Mah who nailed it...hahah..it was so funny that I couldn't barely move laughing my heart out. Thanks to Ita, Kak Mah managed to get all cleaned up at the underground toilet of the Spice Bazaar. A memorable mishaps...

Grabbed some good quality souvenirs along the way.

Beautiful souvenirs from Istanbul

Beautiful charmed bracelet for my lil' sister

Also we managed to visit some interesting local boutiques to shop for memorabilia..The shop owner's name is Zulaiha and she was extremely friendly and quite a homey....Got a lot of discounts there over our purchase. Kak Mah promised to come back again to her boutique for that unique blue colored one of a kind vase.

Local Bakery shop adjacent to our hotel. It serves good bread and pastries. A must try!!

Going back home. Bye-bye Istanbul and Turkey. we missed you.

From Doha back to our home

Food served in Qatar Airways

It has been a wonderful journey with Kak Mah and Miss lovely Ita. Hope that we can travel together again and may this travelling fanatic trios will continue to wander in the coming futures. Insyaallah.
